Robert Downey Jr. Will Reportedly Return as Tony Stark One More Time

We weren't expecting to see him so soon.

*Spoilers for Avengers: Endgame below.*

It's really not been that long since Robert Downey Jr. bowed out in Avengers: Endgame. Many tears were shed, but we thought enough time had passed for us to come to peace with the finality of it all.

That was until a Deadline article emerged, which just casually mentioned that Robert Downey Jr. will be seen in the role of Stark one more time.

Sorry, what? Someone has a lot of explaining to do.

As reported by Deadline, Rob will make an appearance in Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, which is set to be released in 2020. Seriously, we shouldn't even be that surprised, considering Black Widow is dead too and all.

However, don't get too excited, because Stark hasn't exactly returned to life. The upcoming flick is a prequel, set shortly after Captain America: Civil War, but before Infinity War and Endgame. That means that fans will get to see what happened following Romanoff's exile, after allowing Captain America and Bucky Barnes to escape in Civil War. It all sounds very juicy.

Fans seem pretty excited about seeing their absolute fave back in action.

But others reckon he will only appear in a short cameo, which is actually a deleted scene from Captain America: Civil War.

Marvel hasn't confirmed anything yet, so it's being treated as rumour at this stage.

Black Widow also stars Florence Pugh (Midsommar) as Yelena, Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) as Melina, and beloved Stranger Things dad David Harbour will portray Alexei/The Red Guardian.

Directed by Aussie writer and director Cate Shortland, Black Widow will land in cinemas on 1 May 2020.
