Rest in Peace, Paddles: NZ's First Kitten Has Been Hit By a Car

Another life taken too soon.

The First Cat of New Zealand and adopted kitten of New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Paddles, was hit and killed by a car yesterday in her Auckland suburb of Mt Albert.

According to Newshub, the driver who hit Paddles told a local resident, who later found Paddles on her owner's property. Unfortunately, it was too late.

PM Ardern took to Facebook to express her sadness over Paddles' untimely death.

Paddles became an instant star when her Twitter page made headlines around the world, featuring in Vanity Fair and BBC.

Her Twitter account, which only opened on October 21, was full of feline sass and had no time for trolls.

R.I.P Paddles, may you enjoy many tuna meals and scratching posts in kitty heaven.
