A “Nintendogs”-style Game Is Coming to Nintendo Switch

The 10-year wait is over.

It’s been a long ten years without a new game like Nintendogs, but finally, fans are being rewarded for their faithfulness with Puppies and Kittens coming to the Nintendo Switch this October.

For those who don’t remember, Nintendogs was a pet simulation game allowing you to raise your own dog (and in later versions, a cat). The game was hugely popular with anyone who didn’t have a pet.

Honestly, if you weren't hiding under the covers late at night playing Nintendogs, hoping your mum didn't hear you, did you even have a childhood?

Now, 10 years since Nintendogs + Cats was released, we finally have a successor to the series with Puppies and Kittens stepping up to fill that digital dog-shaped hole in our hearts.

Dropping on 28 October this year, Puppies and Kittens will let players choose from 20 different breeds of dogs and cats, and then raise them to be the goodest boy or girl there ever was.

Each animal will have its own unique personality and preferences, and players who show their pet close attention will see their bond with them strengthen. If only it were that easy in real life.

The pet simulator will revolve around mini-games like exploring the neighbourhood for treasures, visiting a meadow and the dog park, and heading to the local shops to buy some pet toys.

Honestly, I wish my life only consisted of visiting meadows and buying toys. I’d be much less stressed.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a pet raising game without being able to teach them a few tricks like fetch. And once you’ve taught them all you can (let’s be real, you just lost patience) you can let your four-legged friend have some playtime with the other pets.

There’s no word yet on price, but hey, it can’t be more than a real dog or cat, right? Treat yourself.
