PSA: 21 Films From Studio Ghibli Are Coming To Netflix Australia

Try to stay calm.
Studio Ghibli is undoubtedly one of the most highly acclaimed animation studios to have ever graced the planet. But there’s always been one small issue: their films have been notoriously difficult to stream.
However, that all changed when Netflix Australia announced that 21 movies from Studio Ghibli will be added to the streaming service this year.
From February 2020, 21 films from the legendary animation house Studio Ghibli are coming exclusively to Netflix.

The animation studio hopes that by licencing their films to Netflix, they’ll be able to reach new international audiences.
Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki said in a statement, "We’ve listened to our fans and have made the definitive decision to stream our film catalog. We hope people around the world will discover the world of Studio Ghibli through this experience."
All of Studio Ghibli’s major films will be rolled out in three waves over the next few months, starting on Saturday 1 February.
From February 1 you can expect to see:

While everywhere from Europe to Australasia will be able to catch the films on Netflix, the upcoming HBO Max has exclusive access to the catalogue in North America, and Ghibli’s homeland has its own rights deal, so those places will be excluded.

Now, we'll just patiently wait until we can immerse ourselves in those aesthetically stunning masterpieces.
