Prepare for Gossip: "Bridgerton" Has Officially Been Renewed for Season Two

You'll be seeing the Duke again soon.
Well isn't this some explosive news, dear readers? Try to remain as calm as possible, but Netflix has officially renewed its saucy period drama Bridgerton for a second season.
If you're yet to binge the series, it follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, as she makes her debut onto Regency London's competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in her parents' footsteps and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne's prospects initially seem to be unrivaled.
Of course, things quickly become a tad complicated when she meets the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page).
Basically, he's a real hottie.
Created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, the show has already amassed over 63 million household views since it premiered on Christmas Day.
While many viewers found Bridgerton highly entertaining, others slammed the show for one of its particularly controversial sex scenes.
The first season was based on Julia Quinn's novel The Duke And I. Considering there's eight novels in the book series, we're betting anything that Season 2 probably won't be the show's last.
So, what will Season 2 be about?
With each one of Quinn's novels following a different character, some fans had already speculated that Season 2 wouldn't centre on Daphne and Simon's relationship.
Well, they were right.
As reported by Screen Rant, S2 will focus on Daphne's eldest brother Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), rather than Daphne herself. This means that Van Dusen will follow Quinn's second novel, The Viscount Who Loved Me.
Netflix seemingly confirmed that we'll be seeing a lot more of Anthony in Season 2 when they posted their official announcement to social media.
According to Deadline, casting is underway for a bunch of new roles, including Anthony's new love interest Kate Sheffield.
At this stage, it's too early to say whether all the cast members from Season 1 will be returning this time around. However, we're definitely expecting to see Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington, Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton (undoubtedly the best character, don't @ me) and Ruby Barker as Marina Thompson.
Of course, it's likely that Lady Whistledown will still be voiced by Julie Andrews as well (thank goodness).
Bridgerton is set to resume production later this year, but no release date for Season 2 has been confirmed yet.
That's all the tea we've got for you right now. We'll be sure to keep you updated.
