A "Pokémon" Live-Action Series Is in the Works At Netflix

We don't know how to feel about this.
If you grew up watching Pokémon, every now and then you might stop and contemplate what a live-action version of the Japanese franchise would be like (or maybe that's just us).
Either way, you won't have to wonder for much longer, because it turns out a live-action Pokémon series is in early development at Netflix.
Earlier today, Variety reported that the project would be a live-action show akin to the Detective Pikachu film starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith that was released back in 2019.
The project is still in its very early days, so the plot is being kept tightly under wraps. Although, Variety's sources reckon that Joe Henderson—co-showrunner and executive producer on Lucifer—is set to write and executive produce the series.
Honestly, it's not entirely surprising that Netflix has decided to work on this considering Pokémon: Indigo League and Pokémon Journeys are available to watch on the streaming service.
Plus, Pokémon is the most successful video game adaptation of all time, with over 1,000 episodes broadcast and adapted for international television markets, airing across 169 countries worldwide.
Of course, the most important question is: how are fans feeling about the news?
Look, it's safe to say there are mixed reactions.
No release date has been confirmed for the live-action series yet, so we'll be sure to keep you updated.
Until then, you'll just want to play this banger on repeat.
