We Asked a Fan: Everything We Need to Know About Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS Tour

You managed to get tickets? Good 4 U

One of our fave Disney stars and pop punk princess Olivia Rodrigo has arrived in Australia for her GUTS Tour. She’s already played four shows in Melbourne but now the 21-year-old is in Sydney to play shows on 17, 18, 21 and 22 October.

She sold out two Sydney shows at Qudos Bank Arena so quickly, she added two more shows.

And if you’re one of the lucky fans who gets to see her, like Mikaela Copland, a fan from Melbourne, here’s everything you need to know about the show.

What was the overall vibe of the concert?

If there is one thing to know about fan Mikaela, it’s that she loves music! She works at Music Victoria and is the founder of Tall Poppy Management and admits “I go to a lot of concerts.”

She recently attended Olivia’s concert in Melbourne and spoke to us about what we should expect. When we asked her what the vibe was like at Olivia’s GUTS tour, she said this pop girlie “blew my expectations out of the water.”

“I wasn’t sure what to expect, but she was so impressive,” she told Student Edge.

Concertgoers will be excited to know Olivia sits on a moon which ‘travels’ around the arena. It’s something Mikaela said she really liked.

“Because we were quite up in the back, the fact that she could interact with way more fans and sit on it and it goes around the arena,” she said.

“It made [it] feel so much more interactive.”

How engaging is Olivia?

Mikaela said fans could definitely see Olivia’s Disney moves and acting skills come out.

“I think it made all the difference that she’s also an actor,” she said.

“Olivia was giving it her all, she had dancers, she had props.”

“You could really see that she valued her fans…and it was one of the concerts I’ve been to recently where I’m like ‘oh wow’ the ticket price was actually really worth it.”

What should we wear?

If you’re tempted to buy an entirely new outfit for this concert, don’t.

Loads of Olivia fans at other concerts have been repurposing looks, taking inspo from her own vintage inspired looks.

Mikaela said, “she encouraged her fans to upcycle clothes and like stick stickers on them and repurpose clothes rather than going out and buying a whole new outfit.”

The small stuff.

Mikaela’s biggest tip for the night  - bring earplugs. It’s loud, it’s hectic and there’s an echo of people singing.

If you’re planning to bring a bag it’s worth checking what you can and can’t bring on the Qudos website.

And defs check out how you’re going to get there before you leave.

If you’re going, you’ll have the best time – we hope you have de ja vu over this concert for years to come 😉
