The Official World University Rankings Are Out, and Australia Has Slipped…

Our nation’s best is The Australian National University in Canberra.

The biggest university ranking list has just been released and we’ve been keen to see where our motherland sits amongst the rest of the world.

Truth is, it’s not all that stellar. With just seven Aussie unis making it in the Top 100, and many institutions slipping down from positions they’ve previously held, it’s a bit of a shake-up.

The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings take into account various criteria, including academic reputation and number of international students enrolled. This year, almost 1,500 institutions from across Europe, Asia and North America were included.

According to The Daily Aus, “all but one of Australia’s top universities have slipped in the latest rankings”.

Big guns, such as Sydney University and the University of New South Wales, fell. Meanwhile The University of Melbourne was the only Aussie institution in the Top 50 to rise.
