Nokia Is Re-releasing Its Classic Indestructible Brick Phone to Celebrate 20th Anniversary

Yes, it’s got Snake on it.

In a nostalgic move, telecommunications brand Nokia has decided to exhume the remains of their Nokia 6310 ‘Brick’ phone for its 20th anniversary and millennials are hyped.

12-year-old me is screaming rn.

Initially launched in 2001, the Nokia 6310 was known for its ‘indestructible’ properties, tiny screen and classic oval buttons. The phone was upgraded in 2002 to the 6310i, before being discontinued in 2005.

The new version will feature another tiny screen, only at 2.8 inches, though it’s quite a bit bigger than the OG at 1.8 inches. The re-make also has 320x240 pixel definition compared to the original’s 120x160 pixels.

If you wanna store heaps of music or photos on it, good luck ‘cos the new version has just 8MB of internal storage and 16MB of RAM, but it does come with dual SIM capabilities.

And yes, let's answer the question on everyone's mind. Will it feature the legendary ‘Snake’ game that we all know and love? Abso-frigin-lutley, you couldn't call it a Nokia 6310 without it.

While the echo of the original phone is there, it isn’t exactly the same as the original and it’s definitely giving us post-2010 vibes. It almost looks similar to the iPhone 5C with that yellow backing IMO.

"The new Nokia 6310 takes the iconic silhouette of the original and brings it up to date with some great new additions such as a large curved screen, improved readability and accessibility,” Nokia says on their website.

"Plus a host of classic features you know and love: a wireless FM radio, an impressive battery that can go weeks between charges, and let's not forget the classic Snake.

"It's all built in a tough shell [made from polycarbonate], so it can take life's bumps. The Nokia 6310 is the familiar phone, for the modern world."
