Netflix Knows What Australians Watch and When We Watch It (Including Our "Round the Twist" Binges)

Our streaming overlord Netflix has released some findings into what Australian viewing habits look like.
Turns out, we're just so predictable. Netflix has analysed streaming data from more than 77 million users worldwide over the last six months to compile some pretty accurate generalisations.
From the data, Netflix could conclude that people like to start the day off with lighter content and finish it with the heavier stuff like dramas and thrillers.
"We’ve seen that globally people tend to want to start their day with light-hearted comedy keeping the documentaries and heavier material reserved for the evening — an interesting switch from what networks have traditionally spoon-fed consumers: news in the morning and talk shows at night," a Netflix spokesperson said.

Netflix users start early in the morning at around 5am with kids shows and comedies reigning supreme. Aussie classics like Round the Twist and H20: Just Add Water have their highest viewing times, oddly enough, between 5am and 6am.
At around lunchtime (midday to 2pm), drama becomes the most-watched genre, gaining the captivated attention of 47 per cent of viewers. Lighter dramas such as Orange Is the New Black and Shameless really shine at this time.
Australia hits its peak viewing time at around 8pm while the global average is around 9pm. In this evening slot, thrillers and (more intense) dramas such as Stranger Things and the classic Breaking Bad are the most common shows watched. After this time, we tend to switch to comedies like Master of None and Parks and Recreation just before bed which, from my experience, seems about right.
So, I guess I'll see you around 8pm tonight for that nightly date we have, Netflix.
