"The Mummy" Comes to Life: Mysterious Void Found in Great Pyramid of Giza

But, don't worry, Hollywood's prepared us for this one.
Scientific journal, Nature, has revealed that, after the extensive use of a powerful X-Ray-like scanner, a group of archaeologists and scientists have discovered a giant space in Egypt's famous Great Pyramid of Giza above the main passage, the Grand Gallery.
It's similar in size to the Grand Gallery but the group still isn't quite sure if it's comprised of a series of rooms or a corridor. Despite the discovery still being shrouded in mystery, it's a huge discovery.
The scans were undertaken by a team called ScanPyramids who used cosmic rays which can pass through stone to discover the cavity. Only one per cent of the rays' particles pass through all that dense stone and it took months for the space to appear in results.
So, what is it? Surely, it's nothing sinister and out to end the world?

Other than finding out that the space exists, there's not much else to report on at this time. It's just a big, mysterious void that is freaking out alien conspiracists and giving curse-mongerers an a-ha moment.
Could it be another tomb with a pharaoh? Could it be a room full of evil spirits? Could it be a portal to the realm of the dead? Could it just be a drunken architect's mistake?
There are no plans at this time to tunnel into the special room other than a sending in a micro-robot so who knows when we'll find out, if ever.
We'll just have to wait patiently until the group of researchers discover more of the pyramid's secrets. Until then, I'll be watching the first (and best) two movies of The Mummy series.
