"Mulan", "Avatar" and "A Quiet Place Part II" Have All Been Postponed (Again)

Nothing is set in stone.

With the coronavirus pandemic forcing people to practice social distancing, there's been a great deal of uncertainty over when it's safe for cinemas around the world to reopen their doors.

Last week, it was announced that the release date for Christopher Nolan's Tenet has been pushed back yet again, and now we're not even sure when it'll land in cinemas.

However, Tenet isn't the only film that has been delayed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has postponed the release dates for A Quiet Place Part II and Top Gun: Maverick from this year to 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

John Krasinski's A Quiet Place Part II is being delayed from 4 September 2020 to 23 April 2021, while Top Gun: Maverick is moving from 23 December 2020 to 1 July 2021.

The official Twitter account for A Quiet Place Part II had already released a statement back in March saying that the film's release date would be pushed back.

Last week, The Hollywood Reporter also announced that Disney has taken Mulan off the theatrical release calendar, which had been set to hit theatres on 21 August.

At this stage, Mulan doesn't have a new release date.

On top of that, all scheduled Avatar and Star Wars films are being postponed by a year, with Avatar 2 now set to be released on 16 December 2022.

"There is no one more disappointed about this delay than me," Avatar director James Cameron said in an Instagram post.

The next untitled Star Wars flick, which was previously coming out on 16 December 2022, has been moved to 22 December 2023.

Additionally, the Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel has been delayed from 5 November 2021 to 17 December 2021.

With many cinemas having already reopened in Australia, there's always the chance that some movies might be released down under before opening in the United States.

Who knows? We'll just have to wait and see.
