Microsoft's Rival To Siri Is Called Cortana And She Wants To Know Everything About You

If you thought Siri had gotten sassy lately, wait until she meets Cortana.

With Microsoft 10 dropping this week, Windows users have begun meeting its Siri-like digital assistant.

The voice-activated Cortana was previously only available on Windows Phones devices (and inspired by a similar character from the Halo franchise). As of Windows 10, however, Cortana has become an integral part of their PC operating systems.

What differentiates Cortana from Siri – and will likely plunge us headfirst into a Terminator-esque AI terror-scape - is how she becomes more proactive over time by uncovering your intimate details.

Microsoft’s Marcus Ash excitedly explains one of her talents in the above promotional video. “When Cortana finally learns where [your] home is, and can show you traffic without you having to say anything, that’s where people have this… you can just look at their face. They go, ‘Well, that is amazing. That is powerful. I can’t wait to see Cortana do more things. Let me tell Cortana more things about me so I can have more of that proactive interaction.'”

Cortona is personified by a “simple geometric shape” which, seriously is almost exactly like the movie Her. Things are getting real up in here.

Have a listen to the very personable Cortana in action.

Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk were right. This is how it ends for us. Oh well. At least she seems nice.
