Maccas in China has Released a Coriander Sundae and We Have Questions

Firstly: why?

It’s a controversial topic. Do you like coriander or do you hate it? McDonald's China has made its stance clear by releasing a limited-edition, coriander flavoured sundae.

Some people are gagging (in the positive and the negative way) and some reckon it’s fake news, but, to the shock of coriander haters among us, it's actually legit.

The Cilantro (what the US calls coriander) Sundae consists of Maccas soft-serve ice cream topped with a bright green lemon-flavoured sauce, and dried coriander leaves.

Coriander has divided the world for years, with a 2012 study finding there's actually a genetic component to coriander taste perception, and those who dislike it often report it tastes like soap.

There have been some mixed reviews of the Cilantro Sundae so far. Here’s what Twitter is saying:

No word yet on whether the coriander concoction will hit Aus eventually, but I’ll just be sticking to my usual Oreo McFlurry in the meantime thanks.
