Mark Zuckerberg Posted a Creepy Selfie of Himself in the Metaverse and It’s Hilarious

This was seen against our will.
You know how tech alien overlord Mark Zuckerberg is trying really hard to make the metaverse a thing?

Bit of context: the Chief Executive Reptilian of Facebook (aka Meta) acquired Oculus, the VR headset company, in 2014. It’s since been rebranded to Meta Quest and there’s been a series of questionable VR features released since then.
Facebook Horizon came out back in 2020, as a virtual reality/online video game that really didn’t bear much difference from Second Life (just with worse graphics).

The Zuck has now announced Horizon Worlds, intended to be an expansion of the original version—meaning we just get some badly rendered 3D models of the Eiffel Tower.
To celebrate the release, he posted a selfie of himself in front of said Eiffel Tower and shared it with the (un-consenting) world.
It’s truly embarrassing that someone this rich is hinging his gargantuan company’s existence on something that looks like a JibJab birthday video from 2004 pic.twitter.com/aMYKEcVyMS

What follows is a barrage of hilarious reactions, criticisms, memes, and everything in between.
You know the idea of joining the metaverse and have a chance to find Mark Zuckerberg is scary enough to be considered a horror game https://t.co/dugraO9gZq

Mark Zuckerberg really thinks the future of the Internet is a Mii meta verse that looks like the Wii Shop pic.twitter.com/gaXeN4gfp6

On the other hand, here's a hot take on the whole debacle:
i'm so sick of people roasting mark zuckerberg's meta art. you're all so addicted to the best graphics, the highest HD, the starkest realism, that you can't dare imagine that it might look like that on purpose. that he's approaching his craft with a sense of childlike wonder. pic.twitter.com/Umcq3Y1qm9

For now, Horizon Worlds is available to 18+ users in the U.S. and Canada. Ngl, we’re not necessarily psyching up for an Australian release.
We’re still a little confused how this isn’t just The Sims for boomers. But each to their own.
