Magikarp, the Most Useless Pokémon, Got Its Own App and People Are Kinda Loving It

One of the top three most useless Pokémon (before Metapod and Kakuna, obviously) has just gotten its own app for reasons entirely unknown.

Magikarp Jump is currently sitting at a comfortable #27 on the Apple App Store charts. It's a familiar Pokémon tale, but with a major twist.

Instead of getting an actual working Pokémon at the start of the game so you can take over the Pokémon world, you get the game's most pathetic (albeit kinda cute) 'mon.

Magikarp is famous in the anime series for being the ridiculously weak Pokémon whose only move is 'Splash'. Here's footage of a Magikarp doing what it does best (flailing a bit, mostly doing nothing).

As Mayor Karp says at the start of the game: "#tragikarp".

The game capitalises on this strength by changing it up a bit. Instead, Magikarps now have the power to jump.

To gain greater jump powers, you must play silly mini-games which include Magikarp eating little cookies. Okay, it is surprisingly adorable.

People were obviously quick to stan it.
