Here's How to Pre-Order "Pokémon Snap" in Australia

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are apparently on the way too.

This year is Pokémon’s 25th anniversary and they’ve decided to kick it off with a bang.

Overnight, Nintendo revealed the trailer and a release date for its brand-new game Pokémon Snap. Plus, rumours have spread about remakes of the classics Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

In Pokémon Snap, players will venture into a region called Lental, where you’ll explore various islands on an ecological survey building up your Pokémon Photodex by taking pictures.

As a budding photographer, your aim is to capture photos of over 200 wild Pokémon and research their environment of beaches, jungles, deserts and islands, and then get a grade from the professor you’re doing research for.

In the trailer, we get a glimpse of some of the Pokémon and landscapes that are joining the new version of the game, although, that’s about all we get.

While it is technically a new game—for those of us who can remember—it is actually a spin-off from the 1999 Nintendo 64 game, so some nostalgia is sure to hit OG fans.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long to find out exactly what’s in store for the game as it is set to arrive on the Nintendo eShop on 30 April 2021.

Pokémon has also announced that the Pokémon Company International will be working with Katy Perry and other big musical artists to launch a series of musical events for the games 25th birthday milestone.

So, fingers crossed some of these celebratory tracks will appear on the new game.

So, where can I pre-order it?

You can pre-order the game for $79.95 on the Nintendo eShop now.

EB Games and The Gamesmen also have it for $79.95, and JB Hi-Fi are taking pre-orders for just $69.

Amazon Australia have already put it up on there website but it doesn't look like they have any stock just yet.

It isn’t clear when physical copies of Pokémon Snap will be coming to Aussie retailers but watch this space.

On top of Pokémon Snap, the Pokémon Centre has revealed that Nintendo will be treating fans to remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl in 2021.

Originally released for the Nintendo DS in 2006, the two versions of the game are often considered two of the best Pokémon games ever made.

Giving the world the fourth generation of Pokémon and introducing us to the Sinnoh region, as well as Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup, let’s just say this is a huge one.

According to the Pokémon Centre, Nintendo had every intention to reveal the remakes in February but have clearly been beaten to it.

So far, this announcement is just a rumour but the Pokémon Centre reports that the new remakes are not set to be part of the Pokémon Let’s GO franchise. Instead Nintendo plans to maintain the Pokémon capture style we all know and love.

There is no information just yet on exactly when the games will be released, but with a February announcement on the cards, it shouldn’t be too far away.
