Aussie Kids Are Banding Together to Send Messages of Support to Children in Ukraine—And You Can Too

It doesn't get any sweeter than this.

As the classic Christmas movie reminds us every holiday season, love actually is all around.

In today's episode of "Things that will make your heart melt", kids from across Australia have been writing messages of love to children affected by the war in Ukraine.

They're calling them 'Magic Hearts' and it's all part of an ambitious project to send one million messages to those kids who might be feeling hurt or abandoned, to let them know people on the other side of the world care for them.

You can even write your own 'Magic Heart' with a message to a child in Ukraine to let them know you care and then upload it here.

I can't even.

The Magic Coat Foundation are the not-for-profit behind it all—a children's mental wellbeing organisation that helps kids by giving them strategies to deal with any difficult situations they might face.

And not much could be more difficult than being displaced by war, which is what's happened to more than 7.5 million children in Ukraine.

The touching tributes will be paired with a copy of the book "The Magic Coat for Ukraine" which was specifically written by Magic Coat Foundation Founder and Director, Di Wilcox, to help young Ukrainian people recognise and manage their emotions.

“I have seen so many people emotionally affected by the atrocities in Eastern Europe wondering how they can do their part. I just knew there had to be a way to establish a connection between these people and the young victims of war," Di said.

“We are so well supported by volunteers in Poland, Germany and surrounding countries who are working within the community and so far have been able to see 10,000 letters and books reach children in need.

“This is just the beginning, and we are desperate for more help so that we can make a difference for an even greater number of children.”

Wanna help? You can also make a donation to help the Magic Coat Foundation raise the funds they need to send one million books to Ukrainian children. All of the money raised by the campaign goes towards the printing costs of the book.

Keep up with all the heartwarming updates on this project on Facebook—it's inspiring and you won't regret it.
