Lindsay Lohan Tries Suing The Makers Of “Grand Theft Auto V”; Judges Say, “Nah”

It’s hard to remember a time before Pokémon Go, but back, back in the day there was a video game called Grand Theft Auto V that many people were pretty excited about.
Lindsay Lohan was not among them. In fact, she sued Take-Two, the game’s publishers, in 2014, claiming that the bikini-wearing blonde on the cover art ripped off her look.
(There is indeed a photo of Lohan in a bikini - holding a phone and offering a peace sign - that could be considered inspiration for the avatar in question.)
She also alleged that one of the characters within the game – the target of a paparazzi mission – was also based on her.
But as Business Australia reports, a panel of New York judges have dismissed her suit.
According to court documents, because GTA V never refers to Lohan by name or uses her photograph, there’s really no grounds for the suit. (This is despite Lohan’s claim that the character in question uses her “signature peace sign”. Okay, that may have been a stretch, Linds.)
Further, the judges said that even if Lohan and her alleged avatar were identical, Grand Theft Auto would be protected by free speech; specifically, America’s First Amendment (which also covers “[works] of fiction and satire”).
If Lindsay is frustrated by their decision and wants to get her anger out, we have a cathartic video game we can recommend…
