Lime Cordiale, Baker Boy and Alex Lahey Will All Play at Melbourne’s First Drive-In Gigs

Get ready for a massive line-up of shows.

Musicians have found all sorts of creative ways to perform during the coronavirus pandemic. With many indoor venues closed, artists have turned to social media to play live gigs and connect with fans.

Despite COVID-19 restrictions easing across states and territories, it's still important to practice social distancing.

That's why the team behind festivals including Beyond The Valley and Ability Fest have launched a massive drive-in gig venue in Melbourne.

Next month, Flemington Racecourse is set to be transformed into The Drive-In, a live-music venue where people can gather for a socially-distanced concert.

It all starts on Friday 10 July, with Client Liaison and Owl Eyes. Then, Alex Lahey and Alice Skye will take the stage on Saturday night.

In the second week, you've got performances from Lime Cordiale to look forward to, and week three features Ball Park Music, Baker Boy and Close Counters.

You can check out the entire line-up in the post below.

Audiences will be able to hear the sets through their FM car radios, and the venue will adhere to health and safety guidelines like temperature checks and contactless payment methods.

As reported by the ABC, there will be parking grids for optimal site lines of the raised festival stage and viewing screens, to make sure it's accessible for everyone.

Of course, it's not the first drive-in gig we've seen during the coronavirus pandemic. In May, Casey Donovan performed at a free concert in Sydney.

Plus, Hockey Dad and The Chats have also announced drive-in shows for July.

Tickets for the event are $130 for a vehicle pass, which includes two people. Otherwise, you'll need to fork out an extra $60 for each additional person in the car.

There's also a premium vehicle pass which costs $160, and a $200 first class vehicle pass.

Pre-sale tickets will go on sale from Thursday 18 June at 6pm AEST, and you can register here.
