Kim Kardashian West Apologises For Using a Slur on Her Instagram Story

Kim Kardashian West said the slur during an Instagram story of a Halloween party.

Kim Kardashian West has landed herself in hot water after she was called out for using a slur against people with mental disabilities at a Halloween party.

The video in question was uploaded to her own Instagram account and has since been removed.

Kardashian West attended the party as Pamela Anderson and was shocked that no one knew who she'd dressed as. When she finally ran into someone who understood her costume, she described the fact that no one else knew as "retarded."

The word is considered offensive and disrespectful as it demeans and belittles people with disabilities and their families.

People quickly jumped on her for using the word.

Kardashian West has since issued an apology via TMZ saying it was a mistake and she didn't mean to be insensitive.

"I want to apologize for what I said in a recent video post that is inappropriate and insensitive to the special needs community. I try to learn from my mistakes and this is one of those times," Kardashian West said in the statement.

"Please know that my intention is always pure, and in this case, it was a mistake. I'm sorry."
