We Spoke to Keke Palmer About Her New Movie “One of Them Days”

We talked SZA, the vibe on set and more 🌟

We’ve all had that feeling of finishing a day and thinking “man that day really sucked”.

This particular has come to life (literally) in Keke Palmer (Nope) and SZA’s new movie One of Them Days.

They play besties Dreux and Alyssa who are rushing to find some rent money after Alyssa’s boyfriend has taken their money. The only problem is that they only have a day to find the money, and Dreux has a job interview at 4pm that day.

Keke Palmer spoke to Student Edge about the film and shared a bit of what it was like bringing this film to life.

She said trying to bring the film to life in an authentic and comedic way, meant playing to its honesty.

“…So much of it was also in the script, right? They're going through these situations, and they're heightened, but they're very real,” Keke told Student Edge.

“I think I had the the joy of being able to keep that grounded element in all these scenarios, and that was the humour in it, you know, was the fact that it was like, this stuff is already crazy, so I don't have to make it crazier.’

“I just have to live in the reality of it. And that's, I think the comedy, that's what resonates the most, it’s like, damn, that is insane!”

On-screen she and SZA are a hilarious, melodic combo playing best friends. Despite this being SZA’s on-screen debut their dynamic is instantaneous.

Keke said working together was very natural.

“It was immediately vibes,” Keke said.

“I mean, I'm sure there were moments where I explained things to her, but it never would be like, you know, I'm your teacher, type of thing.

“It was kind of just like learning as she goes and explaining where I could but it was definitely like, she was very much a natural.”

One of Them Days is out in Australian theatres 6 March. Grab your friends, book with your student-discounted tix here.
