Would You Like A Kanye/ Drake Album? Well, They’re Making One

Please, please invite Will Smith along too.

Kanye is celebrating his recent PR victory over Taylor Swift (still) by announcing a new collaboration with Drake.

At day two of Drizzy’s OVO Fest, West joined Drake on stage to perform “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1”, XXL reports.

As the song began, West told the DJ to turn off the music.

“Toronto I got one question for you. Is y’all ready for this album? I’m not talking about Pablo. I wasn’t talking about Views. I wanna ask y’all right now, are y’all ready for this album?”

Mild language alert, obviously.

The this he’s apparently talking about is the long-rumoured joint album by Drake and West, which they’ve been hinting about since early 2015. (It was initially called “Wolves”, but then Kanye took that title for his epic Life of Pablo almost-closer.)

Ahead of Views’ release, Drake seemed to indicate that their mixtape had been aborted. But now, maybe it’s back on?

Look, we don’t have a whole lot of information to go on, and Kanye is fairly notorious for announcing albums that don’t actually eventuate (or, when they do, being pulled from release and then being reworked endlessly). There’s also a massive obstacle in the way of Drake and Kanye releasing a shared project: Drake is inextricably tied to Apple Music and Kanye belongs to Tidal.

Then again, nothing’s impossible, especially if that mooted purchase of Tidal by Apple Music goes ahead.

Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop trying to act like you Steve.

Question is, can this album top Drake and Future’s What a Time To Be Alive? Okay, probably.

The real question is, can it top Ye and Jay’s Watch The Throne? Oof.

Watch this space.
