Justine Damond’s Family Demands Answers for Her Death by Police Shooting

Further details, and some audio, related to the shooting death of Australian woman Justine Damond in the United States have emerged.
Yesterday, Justine Damond placed a 911 call, raising suspicions of a possible sexual assault taking place near her home in Minneapolis.
According to ABC News, Damond was waiting in the alleyway when police officers responded.
Dressed in her pyjamas, Damond reportedly approached the police car. At this point, officer Mohammed Noor shot her multiple times from the passenger seat of the patrol car.
Audio from the moment officers called for backup, saying “shots fired… we have one down,” was posted on the Minnesota Police Clips website.
Damond’s death has been ruled by the county medical officer as a homicide.
There were no known witnesses to the shooting, and the officers’ body cameras were not turned on. The police car’s dashboard camera also failed to capture the incident.
Officer Noor had two years’ experience with the Minneapolis Police Department. The ABC’s Ben Knight, in Minneapolis, said “two complaints have been lodged against him already this year.”
In a statement, Noor’s lawyer said the officer “empathises with the loss others are experiencing.”
Both he and his accompanying officer have been placed on administrative leave.
Justine Damond’s fiancé, Don, has said “her family and I have been provided with almost no additional information from law enforcement regarding what happened after police arrived.”
"We've lost the dearest of people and we're desperate for information,” he added.
“Piecing together Justine's last moments before the homicide would be a small comfort as we grieve this tragedy.”
Justine Damond, a qualified vet and yoga instructor, moved to the U.S. in 2015. She was engaged to marry Don Damond, but took his name ahead of their wedding, planned for August.
The Minneapolis Police Department’s Chief Harteau said on Facebook, “I've asked for the investigation to be expedited to provide transparency and to answer as many questions as quickly as we can.”
