Joe Keery Has Chopped His Hair Into a Bowl Cut and We Need a Moment

Gone, but never forgotten.

It is with heavy hearts that we must report this devastating news. In an event that can only be described as a true Friday the 13th horror story, Joe Keery has cut his hair.

At first, we didn’t want to believe it. But once you’ve seen the pictures, there’s simply no going back.

However, it’s not just any haircut. It’s a bowl cut. Some people have suggested that it’s more of a '90s Britpop style, reminiscent of Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher. Whatever it is, it’s a lot to process.

The former hair-God debuted his new look at the Chanel fragrance launch at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood last Thursday. Stepping onto the carpet with his long-term girlfriend Maika Monroe, you can watch the exact moment that Joe unveiled the new cut below.

That is, if you can even recognise him.

The question we really want to ask here is why. Some people spend their entire lives trying to obtain the voluminous locks that once graced Joe Keery’s head. Did the pressure of maintaining the perfect combination of shine and wave prove too much for our precious Joe?

Possibly. Although, this isn’t the first time that our beloved Stranger Things babysitter has made some unfortunate decisions when it comes to hair. Back in July, we investigated his controversial moustache, which he likely grew for his role in the upcoming film Free Guy. Could his new cut be for the same character? Maybe. But according to IMDb, the film is in post-production.

Perhaps the more feasible option is that he wanted to channel his inner musician. Late last week, Joe released his first album Twenty Twenty, with his psych sound being likened to Tame Impala. Was it a case of new album, new hair? It’s possible.

Of course, contemplating why he did it will not bring back Joe Keery's hair. So instead, we will just mourn the loss of this sacred entity.

Or do we find out who should be held accountable?

At least the memes provide some humour in these dark times.

Hopefully it grows back in time for Stranger Things 4, because no wig could ever replicate what once was the most beautiful head of hair in human history.
