"Pathetic": J-Law and Meryl Streep Both Shut Down Weinstein After They're Used in His Defence

Time's up.
Actors Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence have both hit out at Harvey Weinstein after their names were used in his defence against a class-action lawsuit launched by six women for allegations of sexual misconduct.
Various comments from the actors were cited as proof of Weinstein's 'good' character, as they apparently showed him to have respectful working relationships.

Lawrence was quoted as telling Oprah that Weinstein had "only ever been nice to [her]" and Streep had explained that their relationship had been respectful. Gwyneth Paltrow was also named.
The actors, however, were not so pleased to be connected to the defence of a man who has had more than 100 allegations of sexual misconduct levelled against him.
"Harvey Weinstein's attorneys' use of my (true) statement—that he was not sexually transgressive or physically abusive in our business relationship—as evidence that he was not abusive with many OTHER women is pathetic and exploitive," Streep said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
"The criminal actions he is accused of conducting on the bodies of these women are his responsibility, and if there is any justice left in the system he will pay for them—regardless of how many good movies, made by many good people, Harvey was lucky enough to have acquired or financed."
And it didn't stop there. J-Law went in on him, hard.
"Harvey Weinstein and his company are continuing to do what they have always done which is to take things out of context and use them for their own benefit. This is what predators do, and it must stop," J-Law said.
"For the record, while I was not victimized personally by Harvey Weinstein, I stand behind the women who have survived his terrible abuse and I applaud them in using all means necessary to bring him to justice whether through criminal or civil actions. Time's up."
Weinstein has since apologised for naming them in his defence, with a spokesperson stating that in future his lawyers will not name "former associates".
The gall of Weinstein to actually use the words of Streep and also Jennifer Lawrence who were not abused by him to refute the women were abused by him is INFURIATING. He is trying to dismiss a class action lawsuit and is basically saying- see, I didn't harass or abuse every woman
