How to Watch "Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens" In Australia

We stan a queen from Queens.

Awkwafina—AKA Nora Lum—may have been snubbed at the Oscars for her performance in The Farewell, but there’s no stopping her superstardom. Y’hear that, the Academy? Nothing!

The comedian/rapper/Golden Globe-winning thespian is now the lead of her very own semi-autobiographical sitcom, titled Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens. She follows in the footsteps of other comics who’ve had their names in show titles, like Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres and Ray Romano. Although, she wins because she technically has two of her names in this title. Top that, Raymond!

The Comedy Central series sees Awkwafina living at home in the outer-borough of Queens in New York with her dad (B.D. Wong) and grandma (Lori Tan Chinn, from Orange Is the New Black), struggling to find her way in the world. If only she had her Golden Globe in this alternate reality...

Saturday Night Live’s Bowen Yang also plays her cousin in the series.

Given the Comedy Central connection, this feels like a true successor to Broad City, but even Abbi and Ilana would have trouble matching the idiosyncratic, hyper-expressive energy of Awkwafina’s comedy persona.

The show debuted in the United States earlier this year and earned the network its highest-rated season one premiere since 2017. It has already been renewed for a second season.
