How to Hit the Ground Running at School This Year

Start the year off on the right foot!
It’s the end of January and you know what that means… School’s back whether we like it or not.
But there’s no need to feel the ‘Back to School Blues’.

We know, we know—you’ve probably had an awesome break hanging out at the beach or pool, chilling with your friends or kicking back in your crib, but there’s plenty of things you can do to get prepped for an epic school year!
Straighten out your goals and resolutions.
What better way to get excited for the future than to manifest it through goal-setting?
Sitting down and planning out your goals and resolutions is not only a great way to get organised, but making everything all pretty and aesthetic can be so therapeutic.

How about spending one of the last days of your hols with a pack of markers and paper, or on your iPad? You can check out some awesome inspiration here for our iPad Challenge!
Get all your supplies in order!
Who doesn’t love unboxing shiny new supplies?
There’s heaps of tech, stationery, and study gizmos you can grab for a retail therapy hit-me-up before heading back into the classroom.

Check out these deals on school supplies, textbooks, Apple products and HP devices. And there’s plenty more for you on our Back to Study page!
Keep in mind that this can get expensive—so be sure to check out our advice on how to save money this back to school season.
Start using a habit tracker.
There’s a lot of new routines you might want to implement in the school year. That might be getting up a bit earlier to squeeze in a morning walk or reviewing content for fifteen minutes every night.
Student Edge has their very own free, printable habit tracker that you can use to get study routines in place! Check it out here for more info on the science of habit tracking and how it can lowkey change your life.
Pack a healthy lunch.
It’s one of those things that’s so hard to stick to when there’s a choccy muffin at the canteen for $2.
But getting into the habit of packing your own lunch instead of buying it on the go will bring you more than just health benefits.
Inject a bit of culinary flair into your life by spending some of your weekend meal prepping mouth-watering snacks for the week ahead. Nothing worse than going to recess and seeing some soggy celery sticks you threw in last second (with no dip).

Not sleeping enough can change everything—your mood, energy levels and focus.
Adolescents are infamously tired all the time, so try your best to optimise sleep when you can. You can experiment with natural light alarm clocks or figuring out your REM cycles to find the best windows of sleep for you.
But don’t change too much at once! Your body needs to be eased into it—here’s more on how you can do that.
Practice mindfulness as much as possible.
There’s going to be stressful moments, not gonna lie. But the best thing you can do for yourself is manage the stress through mindfulness.

It’s probably a term you’re all too familiar with—even sick of seeing. You don’t have to go full yogi. It can be as simple as taking 10 minutes out of your day to just sit and breathe.
Learn more about how you can incorporate mindfulness into your day here.
Go forth and conquer!
