How to Find Student Edge Content (Now That Facebook Has Banned Aussie News)

Don't miss out on getting your #studentnews.

So, you've probably started to notice that something is a little, uh, different on your Facebook news feed today.

If you can't quite put your finger on what has changed, let's get you up to speed. Basically, Facebook has decided to ban publishers and users in Australia from sharing or viewing any news articles.

Let's just say you won't be able to tag your mates in any funny news articles for the time being (we're sorry).

The ban is Facebook's response to the Australian government's Media Bargaining Code, which was attempting to force internet giants like Facebook and Google to pay local publishers.

However, Facebook went ahead and blocked all Aussie publishers and users from sharing news instead.

"The proposed law fundamentally misunderstands the relationship between our platform and publishers who use it to share content," Facebook Australia's Managing Director, William Easton, said in a statement.

"It has left us facing a stark choice: attempt to comply with a law that ignores the realities of this relationship, or stop allowing news content on our services in Australia. With a heavy heart, we are choosing the latter."

With this in mind, you're probably wondering: where am I going to get my daily news updates from? Well, we're still here and writing about everything from pop culture to how to crush high school.

Here's where you can find our content:

Student Edge Instagram

While Instagram is owned by Facebook, it still seems to be allowing news content at the moment.

So, if you're not following us on Insta yet, you're going to want to head over to @student_edge and chuck us a sneaky follow.

We regularly post our juicy news content and articles containing helpful tips and tricks to Stories (you'll also find out about all our hot deals and comps, so that's a bonus).

Student Edge emails

You'll also be able to stay up to date with the biggest and best stories via our emails.

Of course, you'll need to be a Student Edge member and opt-in to receiving emails from us.

If you're a member but you haven't received an email from us in a while, you can choose to opt-in by logging in and changing your subscription preferences (we won't spam you though, dw).

Student Edge Twitter

Still keen on getting our content from a social media platform? Well, here's your opportunity to join Twitter (the memes are great, okay?).

We tweet absolutely all of our articles, so you won't be missing out on any Student Edge content. There's a good chance that a lot of other news publishers will be doing the same.

The Student Edge website

While you're checking out our deals, comps and surveys, why not take a read of our articles as well?

You'll find the latest ones on the homepage of our website, and if you head to the 'News' or 'Life' tabs, you will find heaps more. We cover topics ranging from movies and games to studying and finance, so you'll be sure to find something to keep you entertained.

Alternatively, you could always just do a good ol' Google search for our articles if you're looking for information on a specific topic.

We'll be sure to update you if Facebook's Aussie news ban changes.
