How Do We Mend Race Relations In Australia?

In the wake of the Adam Goodes 'booing' controversy, we asked our members to reflect on race relations in Australia. Here is one thoughtful response.
Australia is home to a vast spectrum of cultures that, for the most part, interact with interest and acceptance.
However, it is events such as the controversial dilemma circling Adam Goodes that brings our civilised manner into question.
Was the booing conducted by what Goodes simply perceived to be a disrespectful mob of racist goons, or were they just a disrespectful mob of goons? Either or, it is no longer the point. The conflict has drawn enough attention to spark a discussion on race in our nation (in addition to the promotion of Reclaim Australia, a group that demands Australian culture dominate this country).
Australian race relations should be mended gracefully. If we Aussies want to grow old with a reputation worth recognising, at least do the mending without hassle, and without the big political hoo hah that these topics seem to stir.
Race is something our world has been blessed with. If we show admiration and equality for one another's traditions and cultures, race relations should restore naturally, should they not? Of course, there will always be individuals who cannot escape their cloud of negativity, as is the case with other universal issues. Regardless, it comes down to a love of country, and a sign of respect and remembrance of Indigenous Australian heritage, as well as other cultures.
If the diverse population of Australians think they can do this, then we can focus our attention to the beauty of good ol' Straya.
