Here’s How to Pin in "WWE 2K19"

It’s the only way to win, friend.

If you, like Conan the Barbarian, believe the best thing in life is to crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women, you’re probably not playing WWE 2K19 to make friends.

Rather, you're playing to win.

However, as we discussed in our tutorial on how to punch (AKA 'strike') in the latest WWE game, the rules of regular fighting games don’t really apply in this pro wrestling simulator.

For instance, you can’t simply beat your opponents to a pulp and expect to be declared victorious.

Rather, you’ll actually need to pin them and get the referee to count them out.

So, here’s how to do it!

Basically, the moment your opponent falls to the canvas, you can start pinning them by pressing O on PS4 and B on Xbox One. If that sounds easy, well, it is. But actually keeping them pinned for the duration of the ref’s three-count is actually a little more complicated. You’ll need to wear them down first. Otherwise, they’ll easily get out of your grip.

(Pro Tip: Don’t pin them near the rope either; even if they’re worn down, they’ll be able to touch the rope and the ref will break your hold.)

How do I get out of a pin?

If the tables are turned and you’re facing a pinning, you will get three—and only three!—chances to break free.

A meter will appear on the screen, and you’ll be required to hit X on PS4 or A on Xbox One when 'in the red' to successfully kick out. Here’s what it looks like:

Fail, and you’re done, mate. Have fun!
