Mum Uses Classic "Defence Against The Dark Arts" Excuse To Take Kid Out Of School For "Harry Potter" World Visit

Fantastic excuses and where to find them.

In a feat of incredible maternal love (or perhaps mild negligence), a Texan mother took her son out of school for three days to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park.

Though that may not be newsworthy in and of itself—cool story, no-maj—the form she submitted to his school district explaining his absence has garnered a heap of attention online.

My nephew missed 3 days of school to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Afterward, the school made my sister fill out this "attendance behavior improvement" plan. from funny

When asked for details regarding his absence, she explained that the “student was learning defence against the dark arts.”

To prove it wasn’t a wasted experience, she added that he “passed his O.W.Ls and his N.EW.Ts” (which are of course the Ordinary Wizard Level and Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test at Hogwarts).

We wand-er if this excuse will fly in Australia.
