Hang On, Jason Statham Isn’t Sure That Shaw Killed Han

Woss all dis den?

Everyone knows Deckard Shaw killed Han at the end of Furious 6 (and, technically, also three films earlier, in The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift).

What Jason Statham is now presupposing is, what if he didn’t?

In an interview with the LA Times, journalist Jen Yamato holds Statham’s feet to the fire on the #JusticeForHan hashtag, promoted by a vocal (and accurate) segment of the Fast and Furious fanbase.

Their complaint is that Statham’s villainous Deckard Shaw has been turned into a (reluctant) hero in the latest Hobbs & Shaw spin-off, without him apologising or being taken to task for killing off the franchise’s most likable and most awesomely named character, Han Seoul-Oh (Sung Kang).

Han was killed in a car crash during Tokyo Drift, but was so charismatic, he was brought back for the next three films, which were revealed to be prequels. Eventually, it turned out Shaw was the murderer behind the wheel at the end of Furious 6, taking revenge on Han for attacking Shaw's evil brother earlier in the same film. (It’s… complicated.)

But, wait a bloody tic, because Statham isn’t so, ahem, sure that lovable lad Shaw killed Han.

"Well, look, all we saw was a snapshot of something," he told the LA Times.

"We don’t know exactly what happened. We don’t know the full story!"

Could it be that there was another driver? Is Han somehow still alive? Are there multiple Deckard Shaws running around (we’ve already met his brother and sister; does he have a twin?) that need to face off in a future sequel titled, oh, we’re just spitballing here, Hobbs & Shaw & Shaw?

"It’s clearly something that needs to be addressed," Statham added to the LA Times.

We reiterate, #JusticeForHan.
