Halle Berry Congratulates Halle Bailey on Being the New "Little Mermaid"

Huge day for Halles everywhere.

Halle Bailey, the newly-announced Ariel in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, has just collected the first perk of the gig: getting congratulated by Halle Prime AKA Halle Berry.

When it was announced that Halle would take the coveted role (away from, we assume, next contender Ariana Grande), the internet announced its confusion, assuming the part had gone to the 52-year-old Oscar winner Halle Berry rather than the 19-year-old actor and singer Halle Bailey.

But Berry took the fact that she was potentially about to become the second-most famous Halle in good humour, telling the world, "Halles get it done".

Bailey responded as any right-minded person would: with several crying emojis.

Bailey is better known as one-half of the singing sister duo Chloe x Halle; recent Grammy nominees who appear alongside Yara Shahadi on the Black-ish spin-off Grown-ish.

She’s about to join the ranks of live-action Disney princesses Lily James (Cinderella) and Emma Watson (Belle) in the studio’s next major cartoon adaptation. Melissa McCarthy is also rumoured to be up for the part of the villainous Ursula, despite Lizzo putting herself on tape for the role back in 2018.

Honestly, as long as they find a way for Halle Prime to be part of their world, we'll call it a happy ending.
