Umm, Hackers Figured Out How To Get Into Every iPhone On The Planet (But Apple Has A Patch)

Haha, so, funny story really. Erm, how to put this? A cyberarms dealer has found a way to hack every iPhone on the planet.

According to the New York Times, investigators recently discovered that NSO Group, an Israeli company that sells software capable of invisibly tracking mobile phones, has taken advantage of three security vulnerabilities in Apple products to spy on peeps.

The software can also apparently read text messages and emails, track calls and contacts, record sounds and collect passwords.

Here’s the good news: Apple has rushed out a patched update of its OS (9.3.5., for those keeping score) which will amend those pre-existing vulnerabilities.

You can update your iPhone through the traditional Settings function, though, if you have an iPhone, you surely don’t need to be told how to update it, as you’ve likely done it approximately eight thousand times before.

Though a spokesman for NSO Group said “the company sells only to authorised governmental agencies”, targets have reportedly included a Mexican journalist and dissidents from around the world.

Their tools often impersonate those of Facebook, Google and the Pokémon Company, to fool users into lowering their guard.

Apple says their new patch will end the NSO Group’s entry into your phone. However, it’s not yet clear if they’ve figured out a way (or made public) a potential patch for the vulnerability used by the F.B.I. to hack into the phone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters.

Anyway, why are you still reading this? Get updating!
