Gwyneth Paltrow May Have Spoiled the Next "Avengers" Movie, Mark Ruffalo-Style

Marvel, get your house in order.

The stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have much in common: exceptional on-screen charisma, bucketloads of cash, and, usually, the first name ‘Chris’.

But they also have a startling habit of being loose-lipped in front of the press, always accidentally spoiling their meant-to-be-tightly-under-wraps blockbusters.

Mark Ruffalo was first, revealing the spectacularly dark ending to Avengers: Infinity War a full year in advance. Consider this your spoiler warning.

Tom Holland, meanwhile, had to be continually kept from ruining the flick by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Now, it’s Gwyneth Paltrow’s turn, casually dropping a titbit that may actually be the first plot point for the Avengers sequel due out next year.

More (potential) spoilers ahead.

A Twitter user spied an interview with Paltrow—from an apparent official Marvel magazine—where Gwynnie gave away more than she maybe meant to, saying how her character, Pepper Potts, and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) are now married and have a child in Avengers: Infinity War.

Except, they don’t. So, maybe she’s referring to the sequel, perhaps set a decade after the events of Infinity War?

It’s possible when she says the film take places a "decade later", she’s referring to the fact that there is ten years between the original Iron Man, where both Tony and Pepper were introduced, and Infinity War.

Plus, they did hint that Pepper might be pregnant (or could soon become pregnant) in her sole scene from Infinity War. And she and Tony basically got engaged at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming too.

So, maybe that’s all she’s referring to.

Or, she flat-out gave away the fact that Avengers; Infinity War Part 2 (or whatever it ends up being called) takes place ten years after the events of Part 1, in a world where half the population has disintegrated but she and Tony have spat in the face of Thanos’ population-thinning plan by procreating.

If so, at least Gwyneth can take solace in the fact she only spoiled the start of the next movie, and not the end of it, like a certain someone.

If you want to ask the directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, yourselves, you can go to the special Fan Screening Events across the country tomorrow, Saturday 12 May.

There’ll be a livestream Q&A taking place simultaneously across Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne (as well as Auckland), so snag your tickets.
