Greta Thunberg Has Roasted US Politicians Ahead of the Global Climate Strike

"Please save your praise, we don’t want it."

Once again, 16-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has told American pollies that they need to do much more to address the global climate crisis. At a meeting of the US Senate Climate Crisis Task Force earlier this week, a group of the young activists were praised by lawmakers for their leadership, but Greta simply wasn’t having it.

As reported by The Guardian, the lawmakers wanted the group of teens to advise them on how Congress might combat climate change. But being the absolute Queen she is, Greta told them to keep it.

"Please save your praise. We don’t want it," Greta told the Senate Climate Crisis Task Force.

She added, "Don’t invite us here to tell us how inspiring we are without doing anything about it, because it doesn’t lead to anything."

Well, ain’t that the truth.

Addressing the Democratic senators at the invitation-only forum, Greta told them, "I know you’re trying… but just not hard enough. Sorry."

Greta is in the United States ahead of the upcoming Global Strike for Climate, where millions of people will take to the streets to demand an end to fossil fuels. Throughout her visit, she has accepted Amnesty International’s Ambassador of Conscience Award for 2019, and met former U.S. president, Barack Obama.

In a Twitter post, Obama referred to Greta as "one of our planet’s greatest advocates."

She also attended a House hearing, where she demanded that Congress pay more attention to the scientists who are already highlighting the threats of climate change.

Instead of preparing a lengthy speech, Greta submitted an IPCC Special Report on Global Warning from 2018, saying, "I am submitting this report as my testimony, because I don’t want you to listen to me, I want you to listen to the scientists."

"I want you to unite behind the science. And then I want you to take real action."

There will be strikes taking place all across Australia as part of the Global Climate Strikes on September 20.
