History Made, An Arrest and Miley’s First Grammy: The Grammys 2024 Recap

Did you know there are over 90 Grammy awards?
It feels like a lot happened at this year’s Grammy awards. From first-time wins to an award show arrest and even a spicy acceptance speech from Jay-Z, we can’t keep up.
If you can’t keep up either, we’ve recapped some of the big happenings from the 2024 Grammys.
Kylie Minogue reps Australia wins a Grammy.
Up the Aussies! After two decades, Kylie Minogue has won her second Grammy ever.
She won the inaugural Grammy for Best Pop Dance Recording for her catchy hit Padam Padam.
First time wins for Miley Cyrus and Victoria Monét.
We can’t believe it either, but this year’s award ceremony was the first time Miley Cyrus has ever taken home a Grammy. She won Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for her song Flowers. Later when she was performing the song, she changed one of the lyrics to “And I just won my first Grammy!” Bless.
She’s a songwriter for stars like Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, and Travis Scott but now Victoria Monét has a Grammy to her own name.
She won Best New Artist and Best R&B Album. Accepting the award for Best New Artist she reflected on her journey in the music industry.
“To everybody who has a dream, I want you to look at this as an example,” she said.
“This award was a 15-year pursuit.”
Killer Mike arrested (after winning three awards).
Killer Mike won three Grammys and then was promptly escorted out in handcuffs. After winning Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album, he was arrested over an alleged physical altercation.
He was booked on a misdemeanour battery and according to ABC News is in the process of being released.
Jay-Z calls out the Academy.

When Jay-Z won the Global Impact Award, he defs did not hold back in his acceptance speech.
He had a bit of a dig at the Grammys on how Beyonce has never won Album of the Year despite winning the most Grammys (she has 32).
He also went on to say “some of you may go home and feel like you been robbed. Some of you might be robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category.”
Taylor Swift makes history.
We’re not sure how she manages to perform at her own World Tour and attend the Grammys but here she is.
Taylor won Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year. In turn she made history and became the only person to win Album of the Year four times.
Accepting the award she said, “all I want to do is keep doing this.”
She also used the opportunity to tell the audience (and all of us at home) that she’s been working on a new album for the last two years called ‘The Tortured Poets’ and it’s out on April 19 this year!
What a crazy Grammys!
