Godzilla Has Been Made An Official Citizen Of Japan And Has The Sash To Prove It

After more than 60 years of displacement, Godzilla has been made an official citizen of Japan.

In news that is so real, TIME is even reporting it, the giant city-destroying lizard was granted a special residency certificate in April. It was made official on May 25.

It will reportedly act as tourism ambassador.

Residents of the Skinjuku ward of Tokyo, where Godzilla now legally resides, have been able to collect his official residency documents as a memento.

Godzilla’s papers detail his date of birth as April 9, 1954, in conjunction with the release of his first film.
