We Ain't Afraid Of This Trailer For The New "Ghostbusters"

The trailer for Paul Feig’s all-female reboot of Ghostbusters has arrived, to the fury of misguided keyboard warriors around the globe.

Due out later this year, the pic stars Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig (reteaming with their Bridesmaids director) alongside SNL faves Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

Chris Hemsworth is also in this thing, as the busters’ glasses-wearing but still pretty put-together receptionist.

The first bit of footage from the controversial do-over is funny enough; what’s most impressive, however, is the visual design of the flick, which looks spectacular whilst still harking back to the retro, lime green colour palette of the original. (Read: there's a lot of slime in this.)

Not that it’s keeping the neckbearded army from howling in protest over the fact their beloved childhood treasure has been – gasp – updated with female actors! (We also presume they boycotted Star Wars: The Force Awakens, play Ataris exclusively and refuse to take any medication that was produced after 1984, so significant were the experiences of their youth.)

Should you be unlucky enough to grace YouTube today, you’ll find hundreds of comments that call the cast “fat shrieking banshees” and “kitchenbusters”.

Instead, watch the comment-free Twitter embed above, where you can see four hilarious and talented actresses headlining a major studio release; one that has been given the blessing of series-starters Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray. (Both will cameo, FYI.)

Also, take solace in the fact that the last time men’s rights activists attempted to boycott a diverse, inclusive blockbuster release, it went on to become the third highest grossing film of all time.
