What is it?

According to our trusty mates at Wikipedia, ikigai is "something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living".

Can you think of something that brings you fulfillment? Motivates you to get up outta bed in the morning? That could be your ikigai.

The concept comes from a village in Japan, home to some of the world's longest-living people. According to them, having a strong sense of ikigai (so having meaning each day) is the key to a happier and longer life.

When they find their ikigai, they never really retire from work—in fact, there's not even a Japanese word for retire. They just stay active doing what they enjoy forever because they've found their purpose.

Okay, I'm sold. Gimme some of that.
