Pirate-ageddon: Foxtel Wants to Block Another 17 Torrenting Sites

Foxtel has been working hard to block torrenting sites on local ISPs.

And though many still think it’s a quixotic campaign (given the ease with which Aussies can still access them via VPNs, not to mention all the mirror sites that inevitably pop up soon afterwards), they’ve had some high profile wins against The Pirate Bay, Isohunt, Torrentz and Torrent Hound, not to mention, most recently, Kickass Torrents, all of which have effectively been blocked by Australian internet service providers.

But now, Foxtel is looking to end Aussie access to a further 17 torrenting sites.

According to Computer World, the company has filed an injunction that would require major ISPs like Telstra, Optus, TPG and Vocus to add 127 further URLs to that aforementioned ‘block’ list. (Subsidiaries like iiNet and Internode would also be forced to block the sites too.)

Those URLs offer access to the following torrenting services: 1337x, CartoonHD, The Dare Telly, LosMovies, Project Free TV 1, Project Free TV 2, Putlocker, Putlocker9.is, Putlocker9.to, Torlock, Vumoo, Watch Episodes, Watch Episode Series, Watch Series 1, Watch Series 2, Watch TV Series and YesMovies.

Foxtel will have their injunction heard in Federal Court on August 8. If they’re successful, the ISPs will have 15 days to comply.

So, save the date?
