New Music Friday: Four Huge New Albums Are Out Today

We are EATING today.
October 21 is shaping up to be a massive day in music, as four artists are releasing some hugely anticipated albums.
From Taylor Swift to Arctic Monkeys and the return of Carly Rae Jepsen, there’s a heap to listen to today – so we thought we’d put it all together on this huge release day.
We asked our followers which one they were most keen for – and Taylor Swift blew everyone out of the water.
1. Taylor Swift - "Midnights".
Swifties, get pumped - because Taylor Swift has brought out her first music in two years.
She first announced "Midnights" as a surprise at this year’s VMAs, and to say people were excited would be an understatement.
The new album features 13 tracks, a feature from Lana Del Rey and some spicy tracks.
Leaks have suggested track 11 – ‘Karma’ will be about her ongoing feud with Kanye West and oof - we are ready for this tea.
2. Arctic Monkeys - "The Car".
Good news if you’re a fan of English Indie Alt Rock – the Sheffield outfit Arctic Monkeys have released their seventh studio album, "The Car".
The spiritual follow up to 2018’s "Tranquility Hotel & Casino", "The Car" is a sprawling, heavily orchestrated and enigmatic 10-track journey, that’s already being rated very well.
The album launched at midnight last night, and people online are already loving it.
Check out the new album here:
The good news - The Arctic Monkeys are headed to Australia for two huge shows in Sydney and Melbourne this January.
The bad news – they’re both completely sold out.
But don't fret - they'll still be hitting Falls Festival in Melbourne, Byron Bay and Perth this year.
"The Car" has achieved NME’s coveted 5-star rating.
3. Carly Rae Jepsen - "The Loneliest Time".
After exploding on the scene with "Call Me Maybe" way back in 2011, Carly Rae’s been consistently releasing music and touring, but hasn’t been a huge star since her early 2010s heyday.
But no more – Carly’s new album is a huge huuge new release.
The new album, "The Loneliest Time" is already getting major hype on social media, and has garnered four stars on NME.
She’s already released four tracks from the album, including the title track "The Loneliest Time ft. Rufus Wainwright" two weeks ago.
That song has exploded on TikTok, with #theloneliesttime racking up 8.4 million views, and the sound inspiring 38,400 TikToks.

Carly recorded the new album during COVID lockdown, and the full album is out now.
If you’re keen to see it live, Carly Rae Jepsen is headlining the Golden Plains festival this March in Meredith, Victoria.
4. Meghan Trainor - "Takin' It Back".
The final big release of this week is Meghan Trainor’s "Takin’ It Back", which as the title suggests, is Meghan’s big return to the scene after her 2020 album "Treat Myself".
This is another one that has already exploded in the online community, with the track ‘Made You Look’ doing the rounds on TikTok.
Plus, the fans are loving it.
Well, that’s it for a huge music release day - which one’s your favourite?
