SOPHIE was known for high-intensity electronic music that pushed the traditional boundaries of pop and electronica, working with many other stars like Madonna, Vince Staples and Charlie XCX.

In 2018, SOPHIE's Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album and garnered some of the best reviews in any genre that year.

Born and raised in Glasgow, SOPHIE’s first record Nothing More to Say was released in 2013 with the artist consequently breaking into stardom with a string of singles in 2015.

SOPHIE is being described as a ‘visionary’ and a ‘pioneer in pop music’.

The producer had also frequently spoken about being trans in the music industry.

"Transness is taking control to bring your body more in line with your soul and spirit so the two aren't fighting against each other and struggling to survive," SOPHIE said in an interview with Paper Magazine.

"On this earth, it's that you can get closer to how you feel your true essence is without the societal pressures of having to fulfil certain traditional roles based on gender."

RIP.
