Fall Out Boy And Missy Elliott Covered The “Ghostbusters” Theme, So That’s What We’re Dealing With Right Now

We’ve long championed the idea of an all-female Ghostbusters reboot, but it’s important to remember that not all remakes should be welcomed so cheerfully.

That’s the warning we offer before sharing Fall Out Boy’s brand new cover of Ray Parker Jr.’s Ghostbusters theme song.

It’s… not great. When a guest appearance from Missy Elliot can’t rescue your song, you know you’re in trouble.

Anyway, we’re still super excited to see Melissa, Kristen, Kate and Leslie pick up the baton from Bill, Dan, Harold and Ernie. Hopefully they won’t actually play this during the movie.

Here’s the original, as performed somewhat enthusiastically on a very haunted set.

Oh, and here’s “I Want A New Drug” by Huey Lewis and the News; the song that Parker Jr. was sued for ripping off. We need you now more than ever, Huey.
