The Trailer Just Dropped for Euphoria Season 3…What Exactly is This Show About Now?

I have graduated uni and worked at three different full-time job since the last season came out (not even kidding).

Euphoria fans, we are so back.
It’s been almost four years since the last season of this show and after the release of the trailer for season three, there’s a lot to unpack.
But before we dive into the antics of this new season, let’s take a trip down memory lane.
What happened in Season Two of Euphoria?

There were multiple major plot points last season like Rue relapsing and hiding it from her family, Cassie getting together with Nate and basically diminishing any character development she had in the first season, Nate holding a DVD containing footage that could destroy his father Cal, Maddy distancing herself from Cassie and babysitting for a rich family (and for some reason being watched by them?) and Lexi writing a school play that exposes all of her friends.
Whew. That’s a lot.
And in terms of how it all ends? Season two of Euphoria ends on a mix of quiet resolutions and unresolved anger. Rue closes the season sober but uncertain, admitting she stayed clean for the remainder of the school year. She also stole a suitcase full of drugs from Laurie – an extremely dangerous drug dealer who we have seen very ominously threaten Rue if she crosses her.
Lexi’s deeply personal school play exposes everyone’s secrets and fractures within her friend group, causing Cassie to have a public meltdown and Maddy attack her on stage.
Meanwhile, a police raid of Fezco’s home turns tragic when Ashtray is killed and Fez is arrested.
Nate turns his dad into the police and returns a very incriminating tape to Jules, preventing her from being charged.
Did I mention this all happened while they’re in high school?
What’s planned for Season Three?

Based off the trailer, it looks like this show is about to get a whole lot grittier and darker.
Rue is on the run, likely from Laurie and we do see her throughout the trailer looking panicked and also dancing with some girls. We then run into a new character played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
Cut to Laurie who you would assume is a nice lady based off her soft-spoken demeanor, when she’s actually a very dangerous woman.
Rue steals a bunch of money from her, gets away with it, and Laurie is never to be seen again. Until now…
What about the rest of the cast?
We see Jules is now living it up in the city and it looks like she has become more of her own person compared to the first two seasons of the show.
We’re keen to see where this new season takes her character.
Maddy is also back, looking as fabulous as ever. In the season three trailer, Maddy goes on to say that every girl she meets has everything paid for them.
Nate is also back and seems to be working for his dad’s business. He’s also married/getting married to Cassie (no surprise there) who has decided to start posting explicit content online.
Ali (Colman Domingo) is also back as Rue’s mentor and sponsor.
Who else is joining this season?

Darrell Britt-Gibson is one of the new actors joining Euphoria. While we still don't know much about him, he delivers a pretty ominous performance.

Actor Darrell Britt-Gibson.
Rosalía is seen in a few clips, dancing and wearing a neck brace?

Rosalía's character is yet to be confirmed.
Dominic Fike is also returning for this last season and Lexi is also back, working as an assistant to high-profile TV showrunner this time around.
Unfortunately, there is no sight of Barbie Ferraria after she left the show last season due to mutual agreement with showrunner Sam Levinson.
Will she be mentioned at all in season three? We are yet to find out.
You can watch season three of Euphoria on HBO Max when it comes out on 12 April.
