“Equality for All”: Watch Macklemore’s NRL Grand Final Performance of “Same Love”

Last night, Macklemore made good on his promise to perform gay rights anthem "Same Love" with Mary Lambert at the NRL Grand Final.
And, as of this writing—despite the concerns of Tony Abbott, Peter Dutton and Pauline Hanson (who definitely knows what a Macklemore is)—society is still operating just fine.
He closed the song with an emphatic “equality for all”, in a direct reference to the marriage equality postal survey.
On Twitter, the rapper called the performance “one of the greatest honours of my career”.
Performing Same Love at the #NRLGF was one of the greatest honors of my career. Thank you @NRL for the opportunity & supporting equality

Even though 3.39 million of you tuned in to watch the Melbourne Storm thrash the North Queensland Cowboys, have another gander at Macklemore’s big moment below.

Prior to his appearance at the Grand Final, a petition circulated to have Macklemore booted from the pre-show. However, the backlash sent "Same Love" back to the top of the Australian iTunes chart.
Macklemore later told Channel 9 that he would "donate" his portion of the “Same Love” proceeds to the “yes” campaign for marriage equality.
Of all the side effects of the marriage equality postal survey, "a bedgrudging admiration of Macklemore" is certainly the most surprising.

He never should have done that. It is politicising a sporting event for families. Save that kind of thing for social media and other interviews, not music concerts and sporting events!
