The Lights Go On At The Eiffel Tower, Beaming Blue, White And Red

Light has returned to the Eiffel Tower.

After two days of darkness, the Eiffel Tower began beaming France’s national colours on Monday evening.

It had been closed to visitors following Friday night’s terror attacks in Paris.

At 4:20pm local time on Monday, patrons were welcomed back. As night fell, the tower lit in bleu, blanc and rouge; colours that represent liberté, égalité, fraternité (liberty, equality, fraternity).

On the first-floor deck, Paris’ motto “Fluctuat nec mergitur” (translated as tossed but not sunk) is being projected.

The Eiffel Tower will beam the colours of the French flag for three consecutive evenings, until November 18.
