Drake’s Got a New Feud: Lauryn Hill Reclaimed Her Sample on "Nice for What" With a Spicy Remix

She used to love him.

Drake—who has attempted to carve out a more wholesome, female-empowering persona in 2018 with his songs "God’s Plan" and "Nice for What"—just can’t stop accumulating feuds.

Yesterday, he got into it with NBA player Kendrick Perkins (despite already having a simmering rivalry with another certain Kendrick). Now, today, he’s getting tea spilt all over him by R&B legend Lauryn Hill, whose song "Ex-Factor" was sampled by Drake on his new #1, "Nice for What".

At a live performance at the Apollo in Brooklyn on Monday, Hill performed "Ex-Factor" plus a remix of "Nice for What", with new, saltier lyrics.

Language warning ahead:

As Vulture reports, the chorus now goes: "See this is ‘Ex-Factor’/He took the sample/My s*** is classic/Here’s an example."

Later, she added: "Stop acting like you didn’t grow up singing my songs."

Previously, Hill has been hesitant to let artists sample her music, but this year alone, her tunes have been interpolated by both Drake and Cardi B. Maybe, we’re discovering, against her will?

Anyway, Drake, you may want to sit this particular feud out. It probably won’t end well for you.
