Did Drake Buy Himself a $200,000 "Harry Potter" Book for His B’Day? Maybe!

Drake seems to have it all: Riches. Respect. An impressively mustachioed dad.

But one thing continues to elude his grasp: A first edition copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

The J.K. Rowling stan confided as much to the Hollywood Reporter, who were otherwise profiling him for his recent forays into the world of film and TV production (including new Netflix series Top Boy). That’s less exciting to the mogul-in-the-making; what he’d rather talk about is Harry Potter, “in depth,” according to THR.

Apparently, Drake has been seeking a first edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (as it’s titled in America, because apparently, they don’t know what a ‘philosopher’ is) since 2013.

As he explained, one has finally landed on the market, going for a very-affordable (if you’re a multi-million-dollar-earning musician) $US160,000, or $AUD208,000.

But even Drake felt that price was too rich for his blood, as he apparently explained while “two tiny diamonds” sparkled from his front teeth.

However, after talking it out with his interviewer, he decided to take the advice of one Tom Haverford, and treat himself.

"I should get it,” he said.

“My birthday's coming up. Maybe I'll buy it for myself as a treat."

Drake indeed turned 31 on October 24 (the interview took place before that date). So, did he snag the coveted item? Or will it now replace Rihanna as the unobtainable fixation of his affections?

An eager world turns its eyes to champagnepapi’s Instagram account for confirmation.
